Gruzija: Pedalinci – medijske zvijezde u Tbilisiju

Ljudi prodaju vlastito povrće i voće, borovnice i kruh.

Kao i ljudi u Turskoj, puno nas pozdravljaju i trube čitavim putem do hostela u kojem ćemo provesti dvije noći (jeste, dan odmora!).
Tbilisi nam je otkrio neke zanimljive trivijalnosti. Sv.

We are digging ourselves deeper and deeper into Georgia and exploring what make this country unique in its own way.
Our knowledge wasn’t to amazing from the beginning – we admit – but sometimes its actually better not to know to much in advance, so that one isn’t disturbed to much by others opinion and what to look around for specific.

Its a very green and lush country – of course most places in Europe at this time of the year, but the impression of Georgia is just even more dense.
I mentioned earlier how animals are just walking around everywhere as they pleased, and it gives everything a feeling of being a little more close to the nature. There are really many frogs all around – in the tinniest little ponds and even in the artificial fountains they manage to find a seat to sing their concerts….
There is a lot of road selling all around. People are selling their home growing fruits, berries and bread. Potteries, different figurines of wood sometimes made of Bamboo is also easy to get everywhere.
And well Then Georgia is the birthplace of Josef Stalin…..we visited the museum of his honor in his hometown Gori.
Lots of communist nostalgia to find in there indeed.

The air got humid but also windy as we entered the Valley and the river Kura that leads the way into the capital of Tbilisi. We were warned about the crazy traffic in there – and yes it’s not exactly friendly for small children on their first bicycle trip but after Istanbul, there is nothing that can shock us anymore.
And actually the Georgian car drivers are funny, when they see us. Like people in Turkey they have been very cheering. lots of honks and thumps up – all the way into our hostel for 2 nights ( yes a day off ! )
Tbilisi revealed some interesting trivia. St George and the dragon is often shown (George = Georgia) and the white flag with the red cross inside gives reminders about the crusades….. Also maybe its just me, but there are really many women here – I mean many more women than men. At least its how it looks like when you walk around in the streets ( or perhaps Georgian men are just not that keen on shopping and let it be all up to the Mrs., the sisters, the daughters etc…hmmm)

…and suddenly we found ourselves at a press conference ( about us !) so much interest for our little biking group. we didn’t expect that at all, but of course it’s nice to get a little attention and being shown around with officials, visiting museums with almost extreme charming guides and finally having some really nice lunch, before having a ride back to the hostel with the first secretary of the Azerbaijan Embassy as our personal Chauffeur….who can ask for more?
